Adjournment, deferral and group conferencing

The magistrate may adjourn a case (i.e. put off the case to be heard another day) for a number of reasons.

These include that the magistrate:

  • wants a pre-sentence report;

  • defers sentencing; or

  • wants the young person to attend group conferencing.
