Victorian Information Privacy Principles

The IPPs are based on the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development’s (OECD) Guidelines on the Protection of Privacy and Transborder Flows of Personal Data (1980) which have formed the basis of data protection in many jurisdictions. With limited exemptions (see PDP Act ss 10–12, 14, 15), Victorian public sector organisations must comply with the IPPs.
