Funeral expenses

A person who has paid the funeral expenses as a direct result of the death of a primary victim of an act of violence may be paid assistance for reasonable such expenses. This amount is in addition to any assistance awarded to the person if they are also a secondary or related victim (FAS Act s 17). Part 19 of the FAS Guidelines indicates that the FAS will pay up to $19 627 for funeral expenses, and gives detail about what can be included here and what evidence is required.
